Bump to newborn
When one of your best friends is pregnant, you get the chance to do a bump to newborn shoot. I’ve known Jackie for 4 years now, we met through the strangest of circumstances but you know what? good people know good people, we clicked, we got on and we stayed friends all these years.
We were pregnant together. due only a few weeks apart. Sadly I lost my son at 16 weeks gestation, hearing his heart had stopped, seeing him curled up on the scan to confirm, then giving birth to him was one of the hardest parts of my life. I won’t lie, at that point seeing my friends bump grow hurt me a little inside as I thought, that’s where I would have been. At the same time I was full of joy for her.
So we were no longer bump buddies, Now she was my friend who I love, my friend who I wanted to take some amazing photographs of so she had the memory to treasure, that moment in time that passes so quickly.
We set up our 1st photo shoot at sunset, in a place I’ve been before but isn’t well-known. We got some amazing photographs, ones I love so much and I hope jackie will treasure for ever. Her bump was in its last stages and I was so excited. Jackie is an amazing mother to her son, I knew her love for her daughter would shine through on these bump photographs.
We went from bump to newborn. Jackie give birth to a beautiful baby girl, bounced back to looking amazing right away with no a mark in sight (that I’ll hate her for lol) we set up a little studio and took some photographs of her daughter. We then went to one of my favorite locations to take a family photograph.
I often think of the son I lost, I think of how he be a week old now. But seeing Jackie’s bump to newborn story just reminds me on that good things happen to good people too. One day I’ll be the new mother and I know my angel is watching over me. I look at my friend now and all I feel is pride.

Home shoots last around 2 hours and we sit and chat, you feed and change, cuddle and kiss and just be who you are, where you are in the most natural space you can be, your home. We can then set up a few studio style images without any pressure to yourself or your baby. In the end you will get a lovely set of images and a choice of a photo book to remember your tiny newborn by.
